Robbie Walker, CMC
Mr. Walker has been with Marine Chemist Service for approximately 46 years. He is currently in the middle of his 9th five-year recertification period as an NFPA Certified Marine Chemist (CMC) and holds the special endorsement for Flammable Cryogenic Liquid Carriers (FCLC: LNG, LPG).
Mr. Walker has served on both the Marine Chemist Association (MCA) Executive Committee (ExCom, now known as the Board of Directors); once as the Atlantic Coast delegate and the other as the National Chairman and the Marine Chemist Qualification Board (MCQB) for initially certifying and recertifying CMCs. He also served on the Virginia Ship Repair Association (VSRA, representing Suppliers) and the Virginia Ship Repair Foundation (VSRF; Chairperson from 2020-2024). Mr. Walker is the principal MCA representative for NFPA 51B Standard for Fire Prevention During Welding, Cutting, and Other Hot Work; NFPA 350 Guide for Confined Space Entry and Work; and actively participates in the 5-year revision cycle of NFPA 306 Standard for the Control of Gas Hazards on Vessels. He is also the alternate MCA representative on the NAVSEA Standard Specification for Ship Repair and Alteration Committee (SSRAC). Mr. Walker holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Virginia Tech and a master’s degree in analytical chemistry from Old Dominion University. He looks forward to finish finish writing and submitting his dissertation on faith.
